Single Ply

  • These roofing materials are referred to as elastomeric (EPDM) or thermoplastic systems.
  • Thermoplastic materials (TPO and PVC) are usually reinforced plastic polymers formed or changed in shape when heat is applied. Hot air equipment ensures seams are tightly welded together.
  • Thermoset (EPDM) materials, consist of synthetic rubber compounds which may or may not be reinforced. They will not change shape after heat application and their seams are set with tape or adhesive.
  • Both thermoset and thermoplastic materials are cost-effective options.
  • They are also UV and weather resistant and lightweight.

EPDM

  • Referred to as “rubber roof”, it is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane used commonly in low-slope buildings.
  • Comes in a variety of widths and two thicknesses.
  • If properly maintained, can last up to 30 years.
  • Resistant to UV rays.
  • Reflections aids with cutting heating costs in winter and cooling costs in summer.

Modified Bitumen/Built-Up Roofs (BUR)

  • Known as “tar and gravel” roofs, they have been in use for 100 plus years.
  • Created by adding polymer to asphalt so temperature limits can be extended increasing the asphalt’s pliability.

Liquid Applied Roofing

  • A waterproof membrane constructed in place with resin and reinforced polyester applied by roller or sprayed commonly in two separate coats.

  • Eliminates the need for a roof tear off as liquid is applied over an existing roof.
  • Cost-effective.
  • Seamless application greatly reducing risks of water intrusion.
  • Minimal disturbance/inconvenience during construction.

Coating

  • A monolithic, fully adhered fluid applied to the roofing membrane.
  • Elasticity slows for stretching and returning to original shape undamaged.
  • The coating becomes the top layer, taking the initial impact of sunlight and weather conditions.
  • Cost-effective / utility rebates / tax incentives.
  • Eco-friendly.
  • Long term sustainable roof design.

Built-Up

  • Very durable and widely used system.
  • Performs well in extreme weather due to multiple layers of protection.

  • Coatings add extra layers of protection from premature aging and helps keep heating and cooling costs down.

Steep Slope

  • Roofing materials suitable for roofs with a 3.12 or greater slope.
  • Lightweight yet still able to withstand high winds and extreme temperatures.
  • Usually made of recyclable materials.
